FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN - Chandler AZ

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a Field Service Technician at its facility located in Chandler, AZ.

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. designs, manufactures, and supports equipment used in semiconductor manufacturing and other manufacturing industries requiring sophisticated control systems and generally including hazardous chemicals in the processes. Service technicians are primarily hands-on electromechanical technicians with varying levels of expertise. This position is for an on-site Service Technician in the Chandler Arizona area. Candidate must be able to work off-hours and be on call to meet the customer’s requirements. Approximately 3 months travel to Albuquerque NM for training will be required.

Primary Responsibilities
• Represent the company in a professional manner and with the highest integrity in all dealings with our customers. Appearance and conduct are expected to be appropriate for the work environment whether at the company or customer site.
• Perform equipment start-up, qualification, repairs, and modifications, along with performing equipment preventive maintenance procedures while diligently following company and customer policies and procedures.
• Attain appropriate equipment certifications and make reports to customers for the equipment status and recommended actions.
• Train customer personnel in equipment operations and maintenance procedures.
• Evaluate, analyze and report new processes, equipment requirements and continuous process improvements projects.
• Assist Service Manager by creating project and training plans, maintenance metrics and other documentation as required.
• Determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment and skill of personnel.
• Examine objects, systems, or facilities, and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.
• Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to provide required service.
• Conduct training in safety, repair, and maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.
•Able to adjust shift to meet the customers requirements for startup and conversions (Swing shift/Nights).

Technology and tools used in this position:

• Hand tools, meters, gauges, and automated test equipment
• Data base user interface and query software
• Enterprise resource planning ERP software — Cost Point, SAP & Microsoft Products
• Spreadsheet software — Microsoft Excel
• Word processing software – Microsoft Word
• Presentation software – Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Power Point

Education and Experience Required or Desirable:
• BS degree, AS degree, or sufficient experience and training in Engineering, Engineering Technology or other technical discipline desired
• 5 years of related experience in field service or equipment repair/maintenance.
• Hazmat training and experience in semiconductor manufacturing a plus.
• Candidate must have knowledge of basic computer and PLC hardware, languages and commands.
• Basic chemistry and materials knowledge a plus.
• CMP or Chemical delivery equipment experience is a plus.
• Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. APCI supports the semiconductor industry and similar industries with large electromechanical equipment. Knowledge of electromechanical equipment used in semiconductor manufacturing is desirable, but training on APCI equipment will be provided.

• Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

• English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

• Building and Construction — Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures. This understanding will help with integration of APCI systems into customer facilities.

• Design — Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
