Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 company, has an IMMEDIATE opening for an Assistant Operator-Repairperson at its Sparrows Point, MD Industrial Gas facility.
This is an entry level position with no relocation benefits. We are seeking qualified candidates local to the Baltimore metropolitan area.
The incumbent will be one of nine (9) Operators, and three (3) Maintenance Repairpersons onsite. This position is responsible for the continuous monitoring and operation of Air Separation Units (ASUs) and Argon Purifiers. The plant is operated 24 hours per day / 7 days a week and supplies oxygen and nitrogen to the RG Steel mill via pipelines. Some of the responsibilities include the starting and stopping of equipment, routine maintenance and troubleshooting operating issues. The ability to work safely is a core requirement of the job.
Qualified candidates should have the following:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Degree from a technical school is preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude required
- Solid scholastic background and previous work and/or military record
- Must be willing to work rotating shifts and weekends
- Team player that is flexible with strong communication skills
Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years experience in a manufacturing or production operation. ASU plant experience is a plus.
Recent military veterans, technical school grads with a maintenance background or Associates degree in a technical field are encouraged to apply. The candidate must be willing to work rotating shifts and weekends.
