Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a Fleet Maintenance Mechanic at its Tamaqua (Hometown), PA facility.
The Fleet Maintenance Mechanic oversees all mechanical maintenance activities related to the trailer and ISO-module vehicle fleet (no tractor or engines included).
Responsibilities are to: • Perform incoming vehicle mechanical inspections • Perform vehicle mechanical maintenance • Coordinate vehicle preventative maintenance program • Schedule and supervise garage work • Investigate non-conformances • Maintain yard status report
The Fleet Maintenance Mechanic will be expected to perform some maintenance activities on the vehicle fleet and help drive improvements in the fleet performance. This includes:
• Scheduling and directing garage and shop activities and coordinating with Logistics/shipping. • Ensuring that all delivery equipment is maintained in accordance with company, local, state, and federal regulations. • Scheduling and assigning outside repair work and monitoring cost and quality for all such services. • Approving all purchases of parts and materials, work orders, and payroll. • Administering SAP vehicle maintenance program. • Implementing and administering Air Products' corporate operating policies, procedures, and programs. • Implementing and administering corporate safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe working environment and promote safety awareness including good housekeeping procedures. • Maintaining parts inventory control for both SAP and OSAP parts. • Maintaining spare tire inventories. • Reviewing, completing, and filing Vehicle Condition Reports completed by drivers in accordance with OT regulations. • Maintaining vehicle shop technician training files and ensuring that the appropriate documentation exists for DOT, EPA, OSHA, and other regulatory bodies.
Qualifications: • High school diploma/equivalent • Minimum of 10 years experience in a maintenance or manufacturing environment • Familiarity with global fleet and maintenance procedures for Tube Trailers and ISO-modules • Excellent communication skills • Experience with Word and Excel • Supervisory experience preferred
