Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a PROJECT ENGINEER at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
The project engineer is responsible for the overall execution of large capital projects supporting the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) businesses at Air Products. The project engineer is responsible for all project execution activities including overall cost, schedule, and plant performance for the assigned project(s). The typical scope includes engineering, design, equipment procurement, construction advisory services, commissioning and start-up advisory services. The role also includes responsibility for project aspects of estimating work and support of product development as assigned and requires significant direct interface with Air Products’ customer during project development and throughout project execution.
Qualifications:
-BS in Engineering or equivalent work experience
-Some capital project management experience, preferred.
Incumbent shall demonstrate and/or have the capability to develop Leadership Competencies including:
-Building and achieves success through teams
-Ability to analyze issues and exercise sound judgment in the coordination and direction of the individuals that comprise the project team
-Understanding of strategic issues
-Having a management style which fosters trust and open communication
-Ability to distinguish between the needs and desires of the customer and deal forthright but firmly with the customer as required to resolve scope issues that may arise
-Provide leadership to the Project Team by demonstrating personal responsibility, accountability, and work commitment
-Be capable of leading a team which will include, in addition to the core Air Products project team, other Air Products corporate functions (Energy, Real Estate, Accounting, Purchasing, Law, Tax, Public Affairs, etc.), an outside A&E , potentially the customers’ project team, contractors, equipment vendors, etc.
-Frequent travel to A&E offices, construction/plant sites and global locations required (20% typical).
