Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an opening for a Research Technician at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
This position will support the Atmospheres COE team, focusing on industrial gas-based atmospheres in metals processing and electronics packaging applications.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Construction and modification of furnace and process-related equipment, including prototype fabrication, setup, operation, and data acquisition. In addition, the individual will be responsible for maintenance of various lab equipment, including furnaces, flow controls, gas and cryogenic supply systems, and analytical tools. Some travel in support of customer trials will be required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
10 - 15 years industrial experience is required; a technical degree (Associates or Bachelors) is preferred but not required. Candidate must possess good mechanical and instrumentation skills, preferably with high degree of hands-on practical experience. Strong machining/fabrication experience is also required. Experience with PLC programming and understanding of P&ID and electrical drawings is strongly desired. Prior experience in heat treating and/or electronics packaging-related activities is also a plus. Candidates must have a strong track record in safety and be capable of working in a laboratory environment with multiple projects. Computer skills including basic MS Office and Excel knowledge is required.
