Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an IMMEDIATE opening for a Production Supervisor at its new Detroit hydrogen facility.
This site consists of a 58MM SCFD steam methane reformer supplying hydrogen and steam to a major refinery. This is a new facility that is being built and commissioned as part of the refinery’s major expansion project and is located within the refinery.
This position is responsible and accountable for the EH&S performance, manufacturing operations and reliability of the Detroit hydrogen facility. The Production Supervisor’s objective is to coordinate production and maintenance activities to meet customer requirements at the lowest total cost.
The Production Supervisor must be familiar with the operation, control and troubleshooting of plant equipment. He/She must establish operational guidelines and procedures to optimize the plant within environmental and economic limits.
Together with the Regional Maintenance Manager, the local team and the Hyco community, the Production Supervisor establishes ‘best practice’ standards to meet on-stream contractual obligations. The Production Supervisor must establish preventative and corrective maintenance strategies, drive continuous improvement, and ensure maintenance personnel are properly trained.
This position reports to the Detroit Site Manager and will provide direct support for the leadership and direction of the Operations team, which consists of 6 operator technicians and 2 maintenance technicians.
Candidates for this position will be evaluated on the basis of the following:
• 4 to 8 years experience process plant operation, maintenance and/or engineering
• An engineering educational background would be an asset
• Demonstrated leadership skills and proven interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills
