Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a SOURCING ANALYST at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
The Sourcing Analyst position within Air Products’ Global Procurement team will play a key role in analyzing our spending patterns and identifying opportunities for cost savings. This role will provide broad exposure to Air Products’ business and allow the individual to build experience in strategic sourcing and analytical techniques.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is primarily responsible for providing broad commercial, financial, and technical support to category sourcing specialists and managers, The position requires the individual to gain detailed knowledge of SAP reporting capabilities and the Ariba Spend Management tool. The individual is expected to be an integral part of the spend analysis, market analysis and strategy development for key materials and services within the global sourcing team(s) they support. Activities may include the support of make versus buy analysis as well as the development of total cost of ownership models. The individual will also assist sourcing teams by using the spend analysis tool to create customized templates, run and analyze reports on spend patterns, cleanse data and information and recommend changes to improve data availability and quality.
The individual is expected to have strong analytical skills and will typically have a technical, supply chain management, or logistics degree. The individual, in certain circumstances, will also be responsible to set up outline agreements in SAP and will, therefore, be trained in SAP for buyer and sourcing specialist roles in addition to reporting roles. Also, given the importance of this position in process improvement initiatives, the individual will be trained in Continuous Improvement tools including both lean and Six Sigma. Lastly, this position will have full knowledge of implementing The Air Products Way including training in all e-enabled technologies.
This position is a developmental role for individuals considering commercial or supply chain assignments of increased responsibility within, or external to, the global sourcing teams. The individual will be exposed to a broad variety of sourcing categories, including capital purchases, indirect materials, and services.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
On behalf of the global procurement team(s) they support:
1. Perform in-depth analysis of Air Products demand requirements and purchase requirements as requested by the sourcing teams. 2. Support the source process by implementing and maintaining outline agreements in SAP consistent with business requirements. 3. Identify opportunities for cost savings and strategic sourcing initiatives. 4. Understand and be able to execute assigned steps of the sourcing work process in accordance with the Air Products Way, specifically, those steps related to analyzing spend patterns, market analysis and supplier relationship management. 5. Support development of total cost of ownership models. 6. Develop reports, templates, analysis and provide recommendations to support teams. 7. Participate from an analytical perspective on cross-functional teams involved in marketplace analysis and supplier discovery. 8. Be conversant, knowledgeable and trained in Continuous Improvement tools and capable of using these tools and techniques to analyze data and support improvement efforts. Individual should be pursuing advanced belt certification in Six Sigma. 9. Collaborate with other members of the Energy & Materials team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain & Information Systems or related field • Strong analytical skills to synthesize data and prepare sourcing strategies • Good communication and presentation skills • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools • Good teamwork and leadership skills • Limited travel required
