ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking an experienced Electrical Technician for the West Gulf Coast Region based out of the LaPorte or Baytown facility.

The basic function of this role is to provide necessary technical and hands on support for plant electrical systems in the Gulf Coast Region including: Induction & synchronous motors, breakers, switchgear, and high voltage substation distribution equipment ranging from 480v up to 13.8Kv. The candidate will be expected to travel within Louisiana and Texas across the Gulf Coast Region.

The candidate will perform the following roles & responsibilities:

• Assist in equipment failures, determine root cause of failure, and recommend appropriate solutions to reduce and/or eliminate the cause of failure.
• Participate in the planning & execution of minor and major shutdowns.
• Provide technical and hands on support as required during shutdowns.
• Provide technical leadership and assist in the development, implementation, and periodic review of: Preventive, predictive, reliability, and equipment health monitoring maintenance programs to reduce and/or eliminate unplanned/forced shutdowns and improve overall plant on-stream capability.

Applicants must be able to:

• Read blueprints, P&ID's, single-lines, ladder logic, and wiring schematics.
• Effectively use typical test and calibration equipment, including digital and analog multi-meters, meggers, and laptops for equipment communication.
• Follow step-by-step calibration procedures.
• Use computerized systems to enter and retrieve data.
• Troubleshoot and repair 480 VAC 3 phase motor controls as well as 120 VAC control circuits.
• Troubleshoot PLC problems through knowledge of PLC logic and operations.

Applicants must be able to work with and troubleshoot the following:

• Large and small synchronous and induction motors
• Field Application Panels for synchronous motors
• High voltage and low voltage relays
• Transformers
• Gas circuit breakers
• Solenoids
• Limit & Proximity Switches Travel:

Travel Requirements:

• Primary responsibility will be the West Gulf Coast Region
• Travel will be required within the East Gulf Coast.
• Some travel will be required throughout the United States and possibly some international locations.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• 6 years experience in low, medium, and high voltage electrical equipment maintenance
• Supervisory skills/experience
• Associate’s Degree or Military service a plus but not required
• Detail oriented and willing to document details appropriately.
• Strong troubleshooting and fault isolation skills.
• Strong personal safety philosophy.
• Must be team oriented and have a willingness to learn and further develop technical skills.
