Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a MECHANICAL ENGINEERING GROUP LEADER at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
The MECHANICAL ENGINEERING GROUP LEADER position is within the Mechanical Equipment Design group in the GEO Global Design Organization. The candidate will interface heavily with the Electronics and Performance Materials PST. The PST provides engineering and technical support to specialty gas manufacturing, transfills, electronic chemicals, FABs, Performance Materials, and Electronics Equipment Services on a global basis.
The Mechanical Engineering Group Leader is co-located with the PST and will need to manage the following Mechanical Engineering activities:
• Become familiar with the various technologies supported by the PST, the Mechanical Engineering challenges and important considerations for project development and execution related to MSE, Machinery, and Mech Equipment
• Resource planning for MSE, Machinery, and Equipment
• Communicate resource and skill-set needs of the PST to the GEO Mechanical Engineering community leaders and secure additional resources that are not aligned to the PST (vessel engineering, machinery, MSE) required for project execution
• Ensure proper work processes are being followed so that engineering deliverables meet safety and quality standards
• Be focal point for project development activities related to ME activities (scope split with Asia, review and approval requirements, scope definition, working with outside A&Es)
• Support CI efforts of the PST / Support Knowledge Capture (Standards development) related to EPM technologies
• Maintain working relationships with mechanical engineering resources located in other regions that are executing EPM projects
• Ensure compliance with EPM Proprietary Protection Policy as it relates to ME activities
Qualifications:
- BS ME with apx. 10 yrs.experience in one or more of the following areas: pressure vessels, valves, piping, stress analysis, machinery engineering, equipment manufacturing, or mechanical field construction packages
- A thorough knowledge of industrial gas systems, pressure vessel and piping codes, stress analysis techniques
- Familiarity with electronics grade equipment, and ASME Lethal / Category M service would be a plus
- Strong organizational and communications skills are required
- 5 to 10% travel (domestic and international) is expected.
