Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a INVENTORY CONTROL SPECIALIST to be based at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Purpose: To facilitate the execution of the inventory replenishment strategy applied to assigned product lines.
Nature and Scope: The Inventory Control Specialist will successfully execute the supply chain strategy by providing tactical inventory management support and expertise for various plants and/or warehouses in North America. This will be accomplished through implementing the Supply Chain Replenishment strategies (MRP strategies) established in accordance with accepted customer service levels and with the Sales and Operations Planning process.
The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining the right inventory levels at the distribution centers to meet the forecasted demand while maintaining the agreed upon customer service levels. The incumbent is also responsible for maintaining a healthy inventory by monitoring slow moving, obsolete and excess stock and developing action plans to improve inventory positions.
The Inventory Control Specialist will work with the Demand & Supply Planner(s), Master Scheduler(s), Production Supervisors / Schedulers, MRP Data Administrator, Customer Service, Logistics / Transportation Planner(s) and 3rd party warehouses to ensure the right inventory levels are maintained at all distribution sites.
Principal Accountabilities: 1. Restock site(s) in accordance to MRP signals to ensure products are on order and stocking levels are maintained. 2. Execute non-MRP driven signals as determined by S&OP or Master Scheduling processes. 3. Track replenishment orders and update critical SAP dates and supply chain partners. 4. Ensure on-time receipts of orders at sites. 5. Maintain a healthy inventory by developing a site specific action plan with others and following up to ensure it completed (i.e., slow moving, dead, obsolete and excess stock). 6. Provide input for setting proper stock levels. 7. Assist in aligning MRP types with supply chain strategy. 8. Meet critical Regional (site) Inventory Performance Metrics (Inventory qty and value, turns, DOH, etc.) for products within a specific business line. 9. Provide feedback for S&OP on critical inventory levels and issues for regional products within a specific business line. 10. Operate inventory accuracy programs. 11. Resolve daily execution issue at sites.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The candidate should ideally hold a BS degree in Science or Logistics. - Excellent written/verbal communication skills, ability to work across multiple functions and teamwork are required. - Proficiency in SAP and Excel tools are recommended. - Strong preference for a minimum of 3 years work experience in inventory management, customer service, production planning and execution. - Experience in supply chain or logistics management, operations or product management, or other process-focused business positions is a plus, along with knowledge of work processes. - This position also requires a high degree of customer focus.
