Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking an experienced Warehouse Technician for its Carlsbad, C facility.
The philosophy of our manufacturing group is to create a workforce that is very flexible. Thus, a candidate for this position must be able and willing to perform a variety of tasks in several different work functions and must demonstrate a mechanical aptitude. Under general supervision, may be involved with the consolidation, storage, inspection, labeling and shipping of chemical materials and hazardous waste. Personnel may also be involved with loading/unloading trucks as well as handling glass and Stainless Steel vessels.
Personnel in this position must possess sound interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively in a strong team-oriented environment.
In addition, the position requires basic understanding of the chemical properties being packaged as well as measures used to prevent exposure, contamination, or release to ensure a safe work environment.
A focus on quality and attention-to-detail is a strong must as well as having a very positive attitude.
Qualifications/Requirements:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. General industry experience preferably in a warehousing environment with a minimum of three years related warehousing, and shipping/receiving experience (Equivalent education or military experience may be substituted for industry experience.).
3. Ability to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets.
4. Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions.
5. Ability to interpret DOT and ICAO regulations in preparing goods for final shipment.
6. Demonstrate a high degree of safe work performance.
7. Excellent interpersonal skills.
8. Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform other physical tasks required by the job.
Key Duties:
1. Utilize a computer to input and retrieve data along with a growing knowledge of SAP.
2. Perform quality inspections.
3. Operate a forklift and load/unload trucks.
4. General Housekeeping duties. Organization of stockrooms and warehousing is required.
5. Consolidation of hazardous waste.
6. Make computer entries to document all stages of customer returned items.
7. Understand and have knowledge of inventory control and cycle counting. Thus, assisting with daily cycle counting.
8. Performs tasks involved in the shipping and receiving of materials, supplies and equipment.
9. Checks goods received against purchase orders and maintain related records, rejecting unsatisfactory items where necessary.
10. Prepares (package and label) product (which includes hazardous materials) for final shipment according to applicable regulations.
11. Assists in developing and implementing shipping and receiving work instructions.
12. Assists in the management of returnable assets.
13. Possibly make daily offsite runs to coordinate container repairs.
14. Participate in Staple Ops Dent Collection and Review process.
