Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a SENIOR MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN to be based at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
The primary responsibility of the Senior Mechanical Technician is to fabricate equipment/systems/apparatus involving mechanical, machine tool, and sheet metal technologies.
The incumbent must maintain a high level of technical expertise in the design, fabrication, and installation of mechanical equipment/systems/apparatus. The incumbent must have the ability to communicate complete ideas/concepts from verbal or formally documented drawings/specifications into complete equipment/systems/apparatus.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Past experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable: 1) Read and interpret technical documentation, especially P&ID’s and experience with high pressure tubing, process piping and small bore (<3/4”) tube bending 2) Estimating: project labor, materials, and schedule 3) Basic sheet metal, carpentry, and Plexiglas fabrication experience 4) Proficiency with general shop equipment including: table saw, drill press, lathe, sheet metal brakes, shears, and rolls 6) General troubleshooting and repair/rebuilding of booster and vacuum pumps, and similar rotating equipment
The incumbent is expected to perform task/project work at a high level of independence. Travel may be involved ranging from day trips or up to a few weeks in length and requires independent decision-making abilities.
REQUIREMENT:
Associate degree desirable in at least one of the required skills/trades along with either 5 to 10 years work experience; or 2 years Air Products experience in related technology.
Experience with process systems/applications and related equipment, Communication (written & verbal) and strong interpersonal skills are essential.
