Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a PRINCIPLE MECHANICAL SYSTEMS ENGINEER at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
The Mechanical Systems Engineering (MSE) team provides key project and estimating support for the major products that include cryogenic air separation producing plants, hydrocarbon plants, and specialty electronics facilities.
Mechanical Systems Engineering specializes in plant pipe system material selection and the establishment of plant design circuit pressures/temperatures. Implementation of defining materials and design circuit pressures/temperatures is managed through support of the Process & Instrument Design (P&ID) development throughout the entire project schedule.
The Mechanical Systems Engineer incumbent will be responsible for specification of piping materials, specification of manual valves, sizing and selection of safety relief devices, selection of strainers/filters, pipe insulation material specification, utility fluid service line sizing, vent flare line sizing, and pressure test guidelines.
Qualifications:
BS Mechanical Engineering with 7-12 years of experience in mechanical engineering disciplines that may include pipe stress analysis, or pressure vessel equipment design, or diverse piping system material selection, or relevant related fabrication or field experience.
• Experience with ASME B31.3 pipe code or ASME Section VIII pressure vessel code is preferred
• Familiarity with ASME B16.5, B16.9, and B16.11
• Experience with cryogenic and warm service piping systems is a plus
• Experience or awareness with Phoenix work process tools is a plus
• Familiarity with ASME B16.34 valves code is a preferred
• Oxidizer material selection and concepts of flammability experience is preferred, or can be acquired during job growth.
