Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has openings for Undergraduate Accounting/Finance Summer Interns at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Assignments will be available in our Corporate Audit, Corporate Decision Support, and Corporate Tax Departments.
Examples of work that could be done during the assignment are listed below, but not limited to the following:
Audit:
1)Primary (90+%) responsibility will be performing Sarbanes-Oxley (Sox) testing under the direct supervision of an audit staff member. Specifically includes scheduling testing with various individuals, sample selection, preparation of workpapers, analyzing the evidence of the control performance and making a pass/gap determination using an on-line application to record results.
2)As time is available, possible participation in operational audits under the direct supervision of an audit staff member. These audits could include reading audit programs, performing testing under supervision of an audit staff member, preparation of audit workpapers, and use of automated documentation software.
3)Participation in Air Products Internship program as work schedule allows.
4)Responsibilities allow for part-time continuation during the Fall.
Corporate Decision Support
1)Create Microsoft Excel models which will be used to project fiscal year operating plan budgets.
2)Reconcile and communicate future functional spending to the business analysts.
3)Download and upload budget information into SAP.
4)Develop and distribute functional surveys to be used in cost allocations.
5)Use activity based costing to allocate finance costs among the business units.
6)Develop and model ad hoc analysis as needed.
Tax:
1)Populate complex Excel spreadsheet models based on actual tax returns filed to support FAS 109 return to provision true up process
2)Assist with the preparation of city income tax returns
3)Tax research using internet based software products as requested
4)Various other ad-hoc projects
This assignment is scheduled for 10-12 weeks. A minimum GPA of 3.2 is required. We require a student who is entering their Sophomore to Junior year toward a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or finance. Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and time management skills are necessary. Previous experience with Microsoft Excel and Word is required. Candidate will be using systems such as SAP R3, SAP BW, Hyperion, BEX and BPS.
