Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking a high energy, self-starter to fill a Sr. Quality Engineer position at its Tamaqua (Hometown), PA facility.

Responsibilities:
• Support the Hometown Quality Manager with the overall quality program at the Hometown facility, which includes, not but limited to, providing input and preparation into quality management reviews as well as customer and re-certification audits.
• Assist in the development of Process FMEAs (Failure, Mode, Effect, and Analysis) and Control Plans at the Hometown facility.
• Routinely perform “Walk the Line” internal audits to ensure ‘Operational Discipline’ at the Hometown plant.
• Take lead or drive an aggressive investigation, firm root cause identification, and adequate corrective action establishment/implementation for all major quality issues (internal or customer).
• Provide continuous technical support to the Hometown plant and complaint investigators for all types of quality issues (internal or customer).
• Support and participate in continuous improvement events related to Hometown (and other manufacturing sites) including variation reduction and supplier quality initiatives that effect operations.
• Support as needed other EMO (Electronics Manufacturing Operations) plants, which includes sharing of best practices and lessons learned from past experiences and issues.
• Participate, as needed, in supplier audits in support of the Electronics business.
• Provide technical support to the Electronics business to ensure our product and package specifications are documented, reflect the material we offer for sale, and are fully executed by the manufacturing plant.
• To implement corrective actions to quality issues, the candidate will routinely initiate electronic management of change requests to documented procedures and processes.
• In support of the health and effectiveness of our quality systems, perform periodic review and subsequent update of both technical and quality related to procedures.

Desired Skills/Abilities:
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work on multiple activities and projects in an organized and timely manner.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of statistical process control, corrective and preventive action activities, problem solving and continuous improvement and quality tools/techniques
• Working knowledge of quality systems such as ISO 9000, and RCMS
• Must be able to work in a team environment, including being able to influence others to deliver the difference.
• Familiarity with control charts (SPC/SQC), management of change processes, and document control are a plus.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical discipline is required
- Minimum of 5 years of plant, business, and quality experience is preferred
- Prior chemical manufacturing experience preferred; consideration will be given to those quality professionals that have a successful history working in a quality environment.
- American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) is preferred, though certification can be achieved on the job.
- Lean and Six Sigma experience or certifications are also a plus
