Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking an experienced SENIOR PRINCIPAL PROCESS ENGINEER for its Carlsbad, CA facility.
This is a critical position in our process development team where the incumbent will be a leader in transferring laboratory innovation to commercial production. He/she needs to have strong experimental skills and engineering analysis skills particularly in purification processes, and, has a practical orientation that focuses on problem solving and in developing commercially attractive processes.
The incumbent needs to have excellent communication and people skills and be able to function effectively in cross-functional project teams as a leader or a member.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. From first principal, and with engineering analysis tools, drive a step change in the physical tools and processes to effectively screen purification process options, and be responsible for their application to new materials.
2. Lead the design, construction, and operation of chemical process development equipment and be responsible for their use in scaling up purification processes for new chemicals.
3. Apply engineering and process development skills to a broad range of technical problems leading to their practical, effective solutions, as the responsible party or as a consultant.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Advanced degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent technical education.
- 10+ year of experience in a relevant field in the practical application of industrial and business settings, with a focus on new product and new process development.
- Knowledge of high purity materials and their applicatiion in microprocessor manufacturing is desirable.
