Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a Site Supervisor at its major pipeline and liquid bulk distribution facility located in Middletown, Ohio.
Candidates should have a strong background in terminal operations, DOT regulations, and be a daily visible reminder of safety. A strong understanding of vehicle safety, as well as personal safety consideration, is required to provide leadership to a staff of 23 company drivers. Overlap with all departments is needed to meet customer needs and to provide seamless service to its merchant customers.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Producing monthly safety meetings for all drivers, as well as daily safety contacts.
- Using tools to understand and drive performance in safety, fuel economy, and customer satisfaction
- Customer interface on safety and training issues
- Trip closing elements in database
- Interface with central dispatch
- Training of new drivers
- DOT log reviews
- Monthly Fuel Reporting/ Monitoring/Maintenance of Fuel Island, as well as underground tank inspections and reportings
- Sharing "on-call" duties with current Site Manager and/or Assistant Manager
- Insuring proper operation of electronic logging devices PDT's
The Site Supervisor will additionally be responsible for on site safety initiatives, and being part of the hiring team.
The Site Supervisor will also provide the primary leadership for the truck maintenance garage, which is staffed by four (4) qualified mechanics, and is a direct tie to the terminal and shipping business line and liquid bulk distribution site. In addition, the Site Supervisor will act as the Team Lead on the "Vehicle Recovery Team", responsible for all aspects of the Team's training and coordination, as well as conducting exercises.
Qualifications:
- Some experience in terminal operations in a safety oriented facility
- Strong background and proven commitment to safety and team performance
- Class A CDL is a plus
- Experience in an industrial gas operation facility is a plus as well
- Strong organizational and communication skills are a must
- Experience in the use of MS Office, including Word and Excel
- The ability and desire to learn the company terminal database for bulk shipping, equipment, and customers
Candidates should be looking for a challenge. Middletown is a very close knit team consisting of 9 operators, 3 plant mechanics, 3 managers, 23 Middletown drivers, 4 garage mechanics and an Admin Clerk. The facility is also home to a Helium/Hydrogen transfill facility.
