Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a PRODUCT ENGINEER at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
This Product Engineering position is a part of the North American Customer Engineering organization. It is a broad role with many interfaces that supports the development, fabrication and ongoing support of equipment that APCI supplies for various customer industrial gas applications. The market segments supported include food freezing, industrial cryogenics, metals processing, primary metals, and wastewater.
The successful candidate will work with internal and external customers, suppliers and fabricators in a multidisciplinary role as both the product/project engineer and the design engineer. The primary responsibilities include:
1. Fabrication and refurbishment of equipment in existing product lines for customer deployment.
2. Participation in the design and development of new product equipment offerings.
3. Supporting the development of standard product design packages for existing equipment offerings.
4. Providing technical support to internal Commercial Technology resources and external customers to solve problems with installed equipment or improve existing operations.
5. Provide engineering support to Air Products’ customers, sales personnel, and the Advanced Technology team.

Job Accountabilities:
• Participation in Air Products Basic Safety Program to drive safety performance to zero incidents.
• Preparation of scope of work documents detailing system design criteria and customer versus Air Products installation roles and responsibilities.
• Creation of equipment fabrication cost estimates, bills of materials, and detailed equipment layout, foundation, and flow schematic drawings as necessary.
• Completion of project closeout activities, including actual vs. budget cost justification and developing as-built drawings.
• Follow all internal work processes for safety, engineering, project management, and operations.
Qualifications/Skills:
• BS ME/CE with 2-5 years of engineering experience is required
• Mechanical design skills as well as knowledge of piping, instrumentation and controls are required. Strong electrical aptitude is a plus
• An understanding of the foods industry, cryogenics and process skills are a plus
• Demonstrated Project management skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and schedule flexibility are required
• Candidate will need to be able to communicate both internally and externally necessitating strong written and verbal communication skills
• This position will have the SAP role of Project Engineer, so familiarity with SAP is a plus
• Job duties require 5 to 10 % domestic travel annually.
