QUALITY MANAGER

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking a high energy, self-starter with strong interpersonal skills to fill a Quality Manager position at its Tamaqua (Hometown), PA facility, who will be responsible for the overall quality program at the Hometown facility.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in science or engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of plant, business, and quality experience is preferred
- Previous chemical manufacturing experience preferred
- American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) is preferred; certification can be achieved on the job
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills
- A working knowledge of statistical process control, corrective and preventive action activities, problem solving and continuous improvement techniques
- Strong knowledge of quality systems such as ISO 9000, and RCMS
- Must be able to work in a team environment

Job Responsibilities:
- Assure the Hometown plant quality system meets the requirements of the ISO-9001:2000 and the RCMS standard and that the Hometown plant ISO-9001:2000 and RCMS certifications are maintained
- Supervision of the Quality Coordinator and Document Control Coordinator positions
- Responsible for maintaining the Hometown document control system including owner approval of all document MOC’s, and responsible for maintaining and disposing of Hometown plant records
- Responsible for assuring all customer complaints issued against the Hometown plant are answered in the proper format and in a timely manner
- Maintenance of the Management of Change (MOC) process and monitoring of requirement progress including participation in the established MOC meetings
- Tracking and posting of key quality metrics such as first time quality, customer complaints, nonconforming product, etc.
- Plant representative for all external audits including customer audits and third-party certification audits
- Conducting management reviews a Quality Steering Committee members and posting meeting minutes; also responsible for addressing quality efforts and metrics in the Hometown Monthly Report
- Maintaining the internal corrective and preventive action process
- Assisting Corporate Supplier Quality with supplier audits as needed
- Interface with vendors on quality related issues as needed
- Conducting plant-wide quality meetings including review of quality metrics
- Participate in the daily Disposition Review Board (DRB) process for Out of Control (OOC) disposition; responsible for all final Out of Control responses for customer use
- Assist in investigation into OOC responses to ensure they are complete and timely
- Responsible for the plant SQC program including chart reviews, CPK analysis, etc.
- Responsible for weekly internal product chart reviews
- Responsible for other KPI/SPC/SQC reviews, where applicable
- Laboratory Calibration Control Charts/Performance
- Operations Calibration Control Charts/Performance
- RFC reviews
- Participate in Customer meetings
- Provide input and Participate in Customer Requirements
- Provide training in quality concepts such as SPC, ACE, problem solving, mistake proofing, etc. as needed
- Providing new employee orientation on the quality program and safety requirements for new employees
- Support the process for determining and validating method detection limits for all analytical instruments.
- Assist with internal audits as needed including interplant audit of other Electronics facilities as needed
- Interface with Divisional or Corporate Quality teams on items such as quality improvement teams, standardization efforts, corrective actions, etc.
- Participate on Divisional or Corporate Quality Steering Committee meetings
- Responsible for maintaining the Accident Preventive Technique (APT) and Quality Preventive Techniques (QPT) programs and associated metrics
- Lead efforts to make improvements to processes as needed
