Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has immediate openings in our Cryogenics & Emerging Technologies Group for a talented engineer with 10+ years of experience in process development. Successful candidate will use their skills to leverage new process development as a means of supporting and driving productivity programs and growth for our differentiated businesses.
The Cryogenics & Emerging Technologies Group, an R&D organization focused on research and development of improved separation processes and cycles, heat exchangers, and productivity support of customer purchased equipment, is part of our Process and Separations Center Advanced Separations Platform.
Working closely with the Customer Plant Support Business team, engineering and our customers’ engineering /operations organization the incumbent will apply a combination of experimental research and engineering analysis (including step-change technology development) to productivity programs from concept initiation through commercialization. The ability to identify opportunities and develop a business case to support ideas for productivity programs is required. The successful candidate will be required to function effectively on cross-functional project teams internally /externally. The willingness and ability to travel approximately 10% in order to lead and support productivity programs is required.
Existing project areas where the incumbent can expect to be involved include:
• Development and leadership of projects to drive step change productivity through application of novel process technology.
• Generation of cost savings and operational improvement ideas through interaction with the business area, engineering and customers’ engineering/operations organizations.
• Supporting the lab development and scale-up of new technology including the exploration of process design variables to establish sensitivities and safe operating limits.
Strong leadership skills and a thorough knowledge of cryogenic air separation processes and Chemical Engineering fundamentals (distillation, adsorption, heat transfer, experimental design and process modeling) are essential.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• An advanced degree in Chemical Engineering is preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in process development.
