Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor for its Geismar, LA facility.
Summary:
• Leads, coordinates and has responsibility for all maintenance activities in the Louisiana HYCO Satellite plants. This includes the Geismar Area Satellites #1 and #4 (Williams), #2 (Cosmar), #3 (Plaquemine) as well as the Taft #1 and #2 satellites. Work closely with the other area maintenance supervisors to effectively utilize and balance all area maintenance resources for the safe and reliable operation of all the area’s operating facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Includes but is not limited to the following:
• Manage all maintenance activities at the locations of responsibility. Become the single point of contact for maintenance needs and services at the Satellites. • Actively participate and lead efforts in safety (BSP). Promote and enforce safety rules and good housekeeping methods. • Focus on identifying system wide opportunities for improvements and instill maintenance practices that are consistent with Regional & Global practices. • Insure effectiveness of established P.M. program. Review and update as necessary to remain compliant with the PM Guideline, Operating practices and standards. • Implement best practices, change management, and standardization of maintenance systems and work processes across the plants in the area of responsibility. • Work with operation counterparts to develop areas from productivity improvements and better utilization of assets. • Support development and execution of MOC’S and Capital Improvements. • Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for maintenance activities. • Confer with management, engineering, and specialist to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve the operation and condition of machines and equipment. • Participate in the budget planning process and the development of 2-3 year strategic plans for area of responsibility
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Lead the assigned maintenance team to ensure compliance to the daily/weekly maintenance schedule. • Review all scheduled work with team members to ensure all aspects of the work are clearly understood. • Coach and assist mechanics/technicians in effectively maintaining equipment and deliver hands-on/technical training as appropriately required. • Develop and review work safety plans with the team to assure all safety issues are addressed and understood so that team members work in a safe and productive manner. • Evaluate personnel performance level, as necessary, to provide development opportunity and growth feedback. • Interface closely with Plant Operations to ensure that work priorities reflect equipment criticality and equipment condition.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong leadership and team buildilng abilities coupled with excellent broad based technical skills and good business sense. - Strong organizational, planning, interpersonal, and communication skills are essential - Minimum of 10+ years in a petrochemical or manufacturing environment with maintenance, construction and/or operations roles is desired. - Prior supervisory experience is a plus - Demonstrated leadership and decision making skills are critical to the position.
