Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a DESIGNER at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania in the CryoMachinery Department.
ABOUT CRYOMACHINERY:
Over the past 68 years, Air Products has designed and manufactured both standard and custom-engineered cryogenic and warm gas centrifugal turbomachinery used for refrigeration and power recovery in air separation, natural gas production, and other related market segments. Existing designs range from 2 kW to 12 MW, up to 97 barg, -268 C to + 260 C, and speeds up to 100,000 rpm. Standard products include compressor loaded turbo-expanders, generator-loaded power recovery expanders, and low-cost dissipative expanders. Air Products also offers global aftermarket support including on-site service, spares, repairs, and upgrades.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent for this position will be responsible for creating CAD designs (layouts), drawings (using ANSI geometric dimensioning), and some shop tooling for machinery on CryoMachinery projects. Drawings and layouts are in Microstation 2D or Solidworks format.
CryoMachinery designers interface with casting, forging, and machining suppliers, project teams, and production facility personnel. Candidate will enter info in STAC, pull SAP numbers using Blaze, assemble bills of material in SAP, and attach shop routings in SAP, disposition parts on repairs and enter info in SAP service orders, and disposition quality notices in SAP for vendor non-conformances.
REQUIREMENTS:
- The incumbent should be able to work independently with minimal supervision on concurrent projects or tasks
- Candidate should have an Associates Degree in Mechanical Design Technology and 5+ years experience or 10+ years experience without a degree
- Excellent knowledge of Microstation CAD and Microsoft Office tools and a basic understanding of solid modeling
- Possess good organization, time management, teamwork, communication, customer focus, and self-initiative skills
- Person should have the ability to learn quickly and must be detail oriented
- Proficiency in Solidworks, understanding of rotating machinery, proficiency in SAP, experience in STAC, and knowledge of Continuous Improvement (CI) are all a plus.
