PRINCIPAL PROCESS ENGINEER

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a PRINCIPAL PROCESS ENGINEER at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

The successful candidate will have broad technical responsibilities including process engineering, systems engineering, shop testing, field startup, internal and external operator training, and troubleshooting field issues.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
• Key technical resource for small H2 product line development and project execution including project specific specs, flowsheet development, shop testing, field startup, and after-startup support for warrantee period.
• Technical leadership for the development of process improvements including new process cycles, optimization, scaleup of new R&D processes, ASPEN modeling, and control strategies.
• Provide third level operations support to SOG Small H2 facilities globally and primary level of after service support to SOE facilities.
• The job holder will have regular contact with the Global Product Manager, Global Product Owner, and Development Manager for the small H2 product line, as well as key interface with GEO Project teams, GO line managers, plant managers, process engineers and site based personnel including both AP and third party owned units.
• This position will involve <25% travel. Almost all travel will be international.

Qualifications & Skills:
• The job requires a minimum of a B.S. in Chemical Engineering or equivalent demonstrated industrial experience with a strength in Process Engineering and Operations/Startup.
• It is preferred that the applicant will have at least 10 years of work experience in Engineering and/or Operations.
• Knowledge of H2 SMRs and H2 PSAs is a plus.
• This position will be required to provide cross functional technical support to the small H2 Project/Product team.
• It will be essential that the applicant is willing to “switch hats” often and assist where help is needed. Areas of impact might include process specification, flowsheet development, conducting HAZOPs, vendor qualification, shop testing, controls support, sales support, product line documentation and development.
• An understanding of equipment commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting is required, as is a hands-on approach and commitment to cope with rapidly changing priorities.
• Ability to work with and travel to external customers in other cultures.
• Knowledge of control systems, ASPEN, CI tools (e.g. ACE, Six Sigma), SPPID, SIMPAC and statistical software applications would be an asset.
