LEAD FIELD SUPERINTENDENT

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a LEAD FIELD SUPERINTENDENT at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

The Lead Field Superintendent will be traveling 100% of the time and be located at the site. The incumbent is responsible for managing the construction of the assigned project in the field including the areas of:
- Construction engineering front-end development/strategy
- Safety
- Schedule
- Quality
- Planning related to constructibility and field resourcing
- Contract administration of construction contracting firms
- Managing APCI resources in the field that follow the day to day activities for the projects assigned
- Details of these activities are outlined below.

The role typically manages 1 project at a time with a TIC of $100M - $250M. The personnel at the site under their supervision can range from 4 – 12 site personnel.

In addition to direct field responsibilities, the role also includes participation and taking a leadership role in support activities for the department including:
- Interaction within the engineering organization groups and resources to develop relationships and a team environment in working with our customers
- Work process and procedures review and improvement
- Leading assigned activities to improving the services to our customers in the area of safety, cost, quality and schedule.

The position requires at a minimum:
- Experience in Construction activities in both support and direct involvement in the field
- Having a demonstrated record of high performance with at least 10 years of construction experience
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
- A track record of success on Safety, Environmental, Quality and Employee Involvement
- A strong commitment to employee involvement, team building and diversity.

This position reports to either the Regional Construction Manager or the Regional Construction Supervisor.

Details of the role and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

-Coordinate the work of the construction contractors during the main construction period and during the commissioning/start-up period where customer, joint venture partner, and Product Supply Organization representatives are present.

-Monitor and ensure contractor's compliance to Air Products safety requirements.

-Conduct a site safety audit before construction begins on a project and report to the home office construction supervisor or to the manager of Construction Engineering any potential safety hazards and unsafe conditions. This "audit report" must include the plan of action to promote safety awareness and eliminate unsafe conditions.

-Monitor the work of each contractor and make sure the quality of workmanship and materials meet contract requirements. Field representatives are not to act as designers and change specifications or drawings without prior approvals from the design group. Manage the design queries.
