Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a PROCESS SYSTEMS ENGINEER at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
The Electronics & Performance Materials Process Systems Engineering group provides engineering and commissioning support for specialty material generation and purification plants that are dedicated to the Electronics industry as well as performance materials that are used in a verity of consumer end products. Examples include products used to manufacture semiconductors, LEDs, flat panel displays, solar panels, and performance material end products that include paint additives, foam, and elastomer, etc.
This position will be responsible for engineering specificity gas and performance material production and purification plant projects with responsibilities including developing the project’s P&ID, shutdown & critical safety tables, and operating procedures. Lead operability reviews, participate in Hazard reviews, and assist in developing field-commissioning plans. In addition, coordination of all functional issues involving reliability, operability and maintenance while providing technical liaison support to Global Operations. Some travel to plants to assist in commissioning and P&ID development on plant expansion projects.
QUALIFICATIONS: - BS ChE/ME with at least 6 years of applicable work experience in new plant engineering with a strong focus on plant operations/startups - Additional hands-on experience in lieu of a ChE/ME degree and other new plant experience will be considered - Possess a balanced multi-discipline understanding in process engineering, process controls knowledge, process safety and equipment/plant design - Ability to make balanced decisions weighing operability, reliability, capital costs and operating costs - Must communicate effectively - Possess leadership skills and seek out technical expertise as required - Engineering experience in applications that include; toxic, corrosive, pyrophoric and high purity plant processes is preferred - Travel is required, both domestic and international - Travel will include trips to plant sites, equipment fabricators, outside engineering firms, and customer locations (estimated at 10%).
