Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking an experienced Cryogenic Plant Process Engineer for its LaPorte, TX facility.
The successful candidate will provide plant process engineering support the Houston Area ASU's, and work closely with the operating staff at the plants, technical resources in Allentown, as well as the TGEE and Merchant commercial teams.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Providing plant/process technical support to maintain safe, reliable and efficient plant operations for our LaPorte and Baytown ASU facilities.
- Monitoring plant performance, and work with the site teams to make changes to operating conditions aimed at increasing production, improving reliability, or improving plant efficiency.
- Developing and driving plant productivity improvements to meet financial targets.
- Supporting controls and advanced controls functions to achieve consistent and optimum plant performance.
- Providing process safety support, including technical and safety reviews for eMOC’s, OPHR’s, and RCA investigations.
- Providing effective interfaces with GO/GEO technical functions and GO and Commercial Mgrs.
- Supporting the OSC, CSC, and Product Management teams to implement operating strategies to optimize product sourcing.
- Supporting CI Sigma, Stable Ops, and Plant Assessment activities to leverage improvement projects.
- Supporting the successful startup of the new LaPorte D Plant in fall 2011.
Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
- 3 or more years experience in either Operations or Engineering in a technical support or design role.
Other Qualifications:
- Technical knowledge and experience with Air Separation equipment, controls and processes preferred.
- Desire for hands-on engineering experience in a plant operating environment.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate problems and opportunities.
- Effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills to interface with plant operators, engineers and management teams.
