CI MASTER BLACK BELT

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a CI Master Black Belt at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

The Master Black Belt position is based in the Continuous Improvement Center of Excellence dedicated to leading major corporate improvement initiatives.

POSITION SUMMARY:
To fully implement continuous improvement skills and tools using the DMAIC methodology to achieve the objectives including customer satisfaction, sustainable low cost, reliability, reduced product variability, improved quality and shorter cycle times.

The Master Black Belt for Corporate Initiatives will serve as the lead subject-matter expert in Lean/Six Sigma for major corporate initiatives that arise from strategic or higher-level corporate/business planning. The incumbent will challenge conventional wisdom through the demonstration of the application of the DMAIC methodology, and provide guidance and knowledge to lead and change behaviors and practices. He/she will act as the driving force of Lean/Six Sigma development and deployment while leading complex process improvement projects and teams. He/she will coach and mentor Green and Black Belts on Lean/Six Sigma projects, tools and methodologies. He/she will identify projects and provide expert advice on the implementation of Lean/Six Sigma, project planning, change management and influencing for the assigned corporate initiatives. He/she will work with the CI Center of Excellence and other MBB’s to create BB/GB development programs.

SUPPLY CHAIN EXPERIENCE:
As a role serving various corporate initiatives, the candidate should be skilled in the industrial corporation supply chain processes including Plan (supply/demand forecasting), Source (procurement), Make (building assets, operating and maintaining plants), Deliver (distribution, logistics, order-to-cash) and Return (product/container returns), and possess skills and experiences in strategic, tactical and operational supply chain planning.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Develop plans to achieve initiatives’ improvement targets including in-process KPIs against targets.
• Develop Organization Leaders and Action Teams through coaching and education in the areas of strategies, tactics, organizational effectiveness, and leadership.
• Lead Organization through analysis and decision making to develop and execute strategic and tactical plans. Conduct toll gate reviews for projects following the DMAIC approach.
• Prepare and present findings/proposals to senior leadership with recommendations, including cost benefit analysis, risk mitigation, and action plans. Evaluate solutions and implementation plans.
• Ensure appropriate identification of root causes through effective use of data analysis tools and techniques.
• Mentor project team members regarding Lean/Six Sigma culture and infrastructure.
• Create, motivate, and facilitate cross-team collaboration across business and functions to deliver on objectives.
• Identify and propagate Best Practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Proven experience leading Black Belts with a minimum of 5 successful BB candidates mentored through project completion and BB certification.
• Certified Master Black Belt with proven proficiency including the following as a minimum:

o Minimum of 10 applications of Black Belt level tools and analyses including Basic Statistics, Control Charts, Capability Analysis Statistical Tests.
o Skilled in regression techniques.
o Application of Measurement Systems Analyses including typical Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility studies.
o Understand sample size calculations for statistical tests and associated risks.
o Understand calculating resources requirements, kanbans and inventories for continuous flow manufacturing.
o Skilled with full process layout and re-design and the concepts of kaizen, mistake proofing and visual controls.
o Project management skills including oversight of project team, resource identification, budgets, scheduling and planning.
o Possess strong influencing, coaching, communication and facilitative skills.
o Ability to bring teams together to achieve targets and goals.
o Ability to diagnose and affect cultural change in moderate to difficult circumstances.
o Highly experienced leading large enterprise projects with significant results.

TYPE OF DEGREES:
• Bachelors degree in business, engineering, mathematics, computer science or related field or equivalent education, technical training and experience.

MINIMUM TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
• Completed Lean/Six Sigma Training through Master Black Belt Certification level.
