Job Description and Qualifications Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an opening for a Site Manager at our Decatur, Alabama facility.

The Decatur facility is comprised of an ASU with a liquefier serving the LOX/LIN/LAR merchant customer base in the Southeast region. The distribution aspect of this facility is supported by 28 drivers and 3 vehicle mechanics. Another component of the Decatur operation involves an onsite tonnage facility supplying oxygen, nitrogen, argon, and clean dry air to a steel manufacturer. In addition, these two facilities supply an oxygen and nitrogen pipeline system of 10 customers. Both operations are supported by a site supervisor, a generated gas site supervisor, five operators and an administrative assistant. Depending on the successful candidate qualifications, additional responsibilities may include generated gases support.

The Decatur site manager will be responsible for all aspects of the aforementioned operations. EH&S, operational excellence, people development, cost management, productivity, and customer satisfaction are key areas of the Site Manager’s responsibility.

Candidates for this position will be evaluated on the basis of the following:

• Demonstrated managerial leadership and interpersonal skills.
• A strong commitment to employee involvement, team building and diversity.
• Effective communications skills
• Ability to interface with customer representatives and community leaders.
• Experience in ASU plant operations and distribution
• A demonstrated commitment to asset management programs.
• Committed to our continuous improvement initiative

Preferred candidates for this position will require the following skills:
- 5+ years of industrial experience including supervision
- A demonstrated commitment to EH&S
- A self-starter with proven leadership abilities
- A visible teamwork orientation.
- An ability to develop employee involvement
- Experience in process plant operation / maintenance
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
