Job Description and Qualifications Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an opening for a Project Engineer at its facility in Benicia, California.

The Project Engineer is responsible for assisting our sales team with developing project scopes and costs estimates, creating design/construction packages, managing project budgets, and providing installation, start-up, and customer training support as required for various Liquid Bulk Delivery Systems. The project engineer provides on-going maintenance support and system troubleshooting.

The Project Engineer may also be involved with nonstandard atmospheric installations, turnkey quotes, permitting issues and safety training.

Typical Responsibilities:

- Manage standard customer station installations or modifications to existing systems from the proposal phase through implementation.
- Provide engineering support to various sales groups, customers and the maintenance group.
- Provide project scope development with close interaction between sales and customer.
- Prepare scopes of work detailing system design criteria, conduct site evaluations for LOX, LTX, BHY, and LHY systems to ensure compliance with NFPA criteria, generate installation cost estimates, bills of materials, and detailed equipment layout, foundation, and P&ID drawings.
- Coordinate project execution activities with the external customer as well as internal organizations including sales, distribution, construction, maintenance, project support, asset management, and global materials management.
- Tracking and management of actual costs and project schedule.
- Project close-out including, as-built drawings, technical performance and capitalization of assets.
- Provide process and mechanical design along with some instrumentation and controls/electrical and civil support.
- Use of design codes and company standards such as OSHA, ANSI, ASME, NFPA, UBC, and UFC.

Qualifications/Skills:

- BS Degree in Engineering, chemical or mechanical
- Independent and motivated person to handle numerous projects at once
- Familiar with gaseous and cryogenic piping systems, valves, tanks, and equipment primarily in LIN/LOX/LAR and LHY service. - Good communication skills
- Strong computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel, Power-point, Drafting)
