Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking an experienced Operations Tech for its El Segundo, CA facility.
Responsibilities:
The Plant Operator Technician is responsible for controlling and monitoring a number of processes in the production of liquid and gaseous nitrogen, oxygen and argon, including the following:
-Participate in the basic safety process, sharing responsibility for the site’s overall safety performance.
-Provide direct interface with pipeline and merchant customers.
-Maintain operation of plant; assist in plant equipment mechanical repairs, instrument calibrations and electrical troubleshooting
-Follow, update and maintain operating procedures to ensure safety and efficiency of the operations
-Provide troubleshooting expertise for the production units
-Oversee trailer loading operations and train loading personnel
-Support other facilities in the area as required
Physical Requirements:
-Must be able to climb ladders and steps and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
-Will be exposed to high noise levels
-Be able to meet call-in requirements as needed
-Elevated work required
Required Skills/Experience:
-High school diploma or equivalency
-Commitment to safety
-Strong oral and written communications skills
-Must have strong computer skills
Preferred Skills/Experience:
-Strong mechanical aptitude and/or military experience
-Team player that is flexible and has a positive attitude
-Computer skills
-Two-year Associate Degree in a technical field
-Instrumentation and/or IT experience
-Plant process experience and/or Process Technology Degree/Certification
Shift:
-Rotating 12-hour shift schedule
-Willing to work overtime as needed
-Willing to take 24 hour on call responsibilities on a rotating basis
-Must be a self starter and willing to work alone
