OPERATIONS / MAINTENANCE TECHNICIANS

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking experienced Operations/Maintenance Technicians for its Corpus Christi, TX facility.

This position will support our Steam Methane Reformer facility located in Corpus Christi, TX. The facility produces hydrogen and high pressure steam.

Position will be responsible for operating, maintaining and troubleshooting the equipment and facility. The basic function of this role is to provide necessary technical and hands- on support to continuously improve plant operation, maintenance, mechanical equipment integrity, reliability, cost, and on-stream factor. Technicians will alternate between plant operations and plant maintenance on a regular basis as identified by the shift schedule.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Participate in the basic safety process as a key member of the Site Safety committee and sharing responsibility for the site’s overall safety performance.
• Provide day-to-day operation of the plant to support the plant on-stream, production and reliability targets.
• Provide hands on support as required to resolve Instrument/Electrical/Mechanical/Operational field problems as they occur.
• Interact with staff personnel to maintain operation of plant; assist in plant equipment mechanical repairs, instrument calibrations and electrical troubleshooting.
• Investigate equipment failures, determine root cause of failure, and recommend appropriate solutions to reduce reoccurrence of/or eliminate cause of failure.
• Assist in the development, implementation, and periodic review of preventative/predictive maintenance programs to reduce unplanned shutdowns and improve overall plant on-stream capability.
• Maintain an error-free execution. Pay very close attention to details and execute work to the highest possible standard. Apply a Continuous Improvement philosophy to daily work.
• Participate in the planning and execution of minor and major shutdowns. Provide technical and hands- on support as required during shutdowns.
• Provide troubleshooting expertise for the production units.
• Follow Operating procedures.
• Support other facilities in the area as required.
• Promote safety rules and regulations.

Qualifications/Requirements:
• High School Diploma/GED.
• Two year Associate Degree in process technology or a related technical field is preferred and/or five years of operations experience in a petrochemical or manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical, instrument or electrical aptitude required.
• Must be willing to work 12-hour rotating shifts and weekends and take 24 hour on-call responsibilities on a rotating basis.
• Must be a self starter and willing to work alone.
• Military experience is a plus.
• Candidates with a background in pumps, mechanical seals, vessels, exchangers, gear drives, compressors, rotating equipment and/or Electrical/Instrumentation knowledge is a plus.

Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to climb ladders and steps and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Be able to meet call-in requirements as needed.
• Elevated work required.
