VISUAL C++ DEVELOPER AND ANALYST

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a Visual C++ Developer and Analyst at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

The Senior Visual C++ Developer and Technical Analyst role is part of a dynamic Sell/Fulfill team which provides development services to an Industrial Gases business.

Position Summary:
This position provides Global IT development expertise, application analysis, and technical design within an Enterprise Application Solutions area. The primary focus will be the continued development and maintenance of applications that support the logistical components of an Industrial Gases Supply Chain. A critical aspect of this role is to effectively work with the Industrial Gases functional leads and Global IT SAP ERP Services, so that new/enhanced functionality and application changes can be implemented effectively.

The heart of the position will be application development with emphases on Visual C++, C# and SQL Server. In addition, technical analysis, level 3 troubleshooting and technical architecture analysis will be involved.

Principal Job Responsibilities:
• Maintain and enhance a suite of Logistics applications supporting a large Industrial Gases Business.
• Perform data analysis and manipulation.
• Interface directly with business representatives to aid in design and troubleshooting efforts.
• Contribute strategically on large-scale development projects that expand system functionality.
• Act as an individual contributor and/or part of a focused development team.
• Accountable for understanding business requirements and functional/technical specs.
• Partner with technical leads to help develop technical specifications based on functional specifications and client input.

Qualifications:
• A bachelors degree in a relevant IT curriculum with at least 10 years of development experience using Visual C++ and 4 years of .NET, C#, VB and SQL server database.
• 5+ years experience with logistical scheduling systems with emphasis on Logistics Management and Scheduling.
• Experience interfacing to, and code development for Personal Data Terminals and Hand Held Devices desired; Windows Mobile and C# preferred.
• Functional and technical experience in IT application architecture, design and development.
• In depth knowledge of the Application Development Lifecycle(s).
• Able to prioritize and meet milestones when working on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to be an individual contributor and be part of a focused development team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Application thinking – see big picture and interconnects.
• Practical knowledge of the Supply Chain business processes.
• Good understanding of overall Global IT processes and practices.
• Expert level skills in C++/Visual C++ development and good working knowledge of .NET, C#, VB and SQL Server.
• Working knowledge of industrial gas manufacturing and delivery preferred.
