Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking an experienced Plant Process Engineer at its facility in Wichita, KS.
This is a local plant leadership position in Plant Process Engineering to support ongoing business and manufacturing asset improvement activities through the application of process engineering and leadership skills. Activities include primary coordination and/or execution in these areas:
* Productivity improvements, EH&S efforts and product mix changes outside normal/historical operating capabilities other than new product introductions. * Significant changes in operations and optimization * Troubleshooting needs that require significant technical input * Responsibility for technical efficacy of all physical changes to the plant including management of change and capital projects as related to these activities. * Calculation and make good for benefits of proposed enhancements. * Support of Process Safety and Environmental issues as necessary and primary coordination of Process Engineering issues related to OSHA PSM.
The Wichita site and a multipurpose specialty chemical batch production facility supporting the Performance Materials Division including Polyurethane Additives, Epoxies and Specialty Amines. The facility is at capacity in most assets and product lines, growing rapidly and adding new products routinely even after the recent economic downturn. While this position will primarily be concerned with Wichita, support of other sites and periods of travel (including possible international travel) are probable especially in later years of the assignment. This position may also require supervisory skills in the future for mentoring and development of less experienced engineers.
The position will report to the centralized Performance Materials Plant Process Engineering organization supporting Global Operations. The incumbent will also have a strong dotted line reporting relationship to the Plant Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering preferred. 2. 10-15 years of industrial experience preferred. 3. Experience with Batch Processing, specialty chemicals and/or amines is a plus.
Other Qualifications:
1. Ability to work in a hands-on environment in an operating plant. 2. Ability to work in groups, interacting with plant operators and engineers.
